Owner, Instructor, Coach, Recovering Soda Addict

I was raised in a single parent home, which means diet and exercise
were not a top priority in my household. I watched a lot of TV, drank a lot of pop (at least 2 liters a day) and ate a LOT of junk! I was
addicted and I had no concept of proper nutrition. Fast food was a necessity. By the time I got to high school I saw myself continue to
gain weight while most of my peers grew taller and skinnier. I realized something was wrong but had no idea how to pinpoint the cause or how to change it.
For Lent one year, I gave up soda. It wasn't for dieting reasons, but because of a science experiment that showed the effect it had on teeth!  I lost 12 pounds just from giving up soda. It was at that point that I started to learn about nutrition and to exercise independently. I picked up recreational running, joined a couple of sports teams and got back down to a comfortable weight. I saw my attendance in school improve because I was sick less often, I felt better and had more energy. I was happier and was hooked on living a healthy lifestyle!
As an adult I still worked out 2-3 times a week. I even got up one day and ran a half marathon with no training (I couldn't walk the next day but I did it!). Unfortunately, working at a computer all day was not conducive to the active lifestyle I desired and there was no shortage of junk food in the office either! I started to gain a bit of weight again and was falling into a bad place where I was tired and unhappy with myself. Fast forward to a phone call I received from my brother-in-law telling me about the Farrell's program. I decided to move to Minnesota from Buffalo, NY and give the program a try... after a week I was hooked! I had never done a class that had me using all of my muscles so effectively and motivated me to work out to a level I didn't know I was capable of. Not to mention, the nutrition program was just what I needed to get back on the good choice wagon. The 10-week party was what sealed the deal. Once I saw how many people's lives were changed in just 10-weeks and how healthy everyone had come, was truly an inspiration.
I want to help everyone feel better, stronger, healthier and more confident. This program is not just a physical makeover, it's a total body transformation, from the inside out. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?
Owner, Instructor, Coach
My Farrell's story begins like many others. I grew up with a passion for sports and exercise. That love of physical fitness carried through my twenties. However, life happens. By my early 30's, I was in the midst of a rewarding, yet, stressful corporate career. Then, my wife and I were blessed with twins. I quickly fell out of a regular exercise routine. Of course, I continued to eat like I was an active 25 year old, so the weight began to pack on. I eventually recognized this combination of little exercise and poor eating was not working when I saw a picture of myself in the pool with my kids. It was at that point I decided to do something.

In January 2010, I committed myself to complete one of those at-home exercise DVD programs. My wife thought I had lost my mind waking up at 4am every day to exercise. But, I stuck to it…for 18 months. Even though I experienced decent results, I wanted a bigger challenge. It was around this time that I also decided to jump off the corporate path and began pursuing my dream of owning my own business. That is when these two seemingly disconnected paths crossed and FXB entered the picture. In September 2011, I noticed this new gym in Blaine, MN and decided to check it out. After learning more about the FXB program, I decided to try the 10-Week Challenge. Within the first week, I was hooked—I knew this was it!
After several years of being a student and owner of an FXB franchise, I still find the classes challenging and the results tangible. Moreover, the camaraderie and support you find at FXB are unparalleled. I believe in this program and want to help others live healthier, active lives. It’s not just a gym…it’s a way of life!
Owner, Instructor, Coach, Nutrition Fanatic
As a kid growing up in Minnesota on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in many different physical activities including hockey, water skiing and competitive tennis and soccer. I loved to exercise and the feeling that went with pushing myselft to excel. I graduated the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Business Administration. After graduation, I spent time windsurfing and fishing off the tip of Baja Mexico and running a water sports resort in Sun Valley Idaho. I soon felt the tug of my newly printed degree calling me back to Minnesota where I began a career in Information Technology Management. I spent the next 20 years working in various industries including travel, retail and medical device, where I was involved in product development, project management and as a part of the Management team where I enjoyed leading and developing the potential of others. Desiring a culture in innovation and accountability, I joined a small startup company specializing in IT managed services.
As the U.S. economy headed into one of the worst recessions since the great depression in 2008, I found myself looking for a new opportunity and completely out of shape from working long hours and helping to raise two kids. Balancing work and family came at the expense of my physical well being. At the age of 49, I started working out. For the next 2 years, my exercise routine consisted of long distance cardio based exercises with no real attention to a proper nutrition. I was never interested in joining a health club and always worked out on my own. This all changed for me when a soon to be business colleague of mine talked me into joining Farrell's for the purpose of one day opening our own Farrell's Franchise.
As fate would have it, I joined my first health club, Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping (FXB) at the ripe old age of 51, in January 2012. After working out on my own for the previous 2 years I considered myself to be in pretty good shape. On my first day at the Farrell's new member orientation I was quite surprised to find out that my body fat was 21%.
This can't be!
I was the classic case of spending countless hours each week spinning on a treadmill with marginal results to show for it.

After the first week at Farrell's I thought I would have to finish the next 9 weeks from a hospital bed, I was so sore. With great coaching and motivation from other FXB members I made it through the 10 week program. My next big surprise came during the Final 10 week testing when I learned that my body fat was now down to 16%. Motivated by this result, I continued on with the program. At my 1 year anniversary, my body fat was down to 10.5%; a 50% reduction in body fat!!

This can be!!

The combination of Cardio-Kickboxing, Strength training and proper nutrition has me in the best shape of my life!

Manager, Instructor
I have been involved in sports and fitness as long as I can remember. Being healthy and in shape has always been part of my life. You name it and I’ve done it, from the big chain gyms, to the small mom and pops.
My hobbies are inline skating, running, biking and working out. You don’t have to ask me twice to run a 5k, just say the word and I’m in. Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly be in better shape, I joined FXB White Bear Lake in April 2013 when they first opened their doors. I instantly fell in love with their workouts. I’m passionate about FXB because it covers all the strength training and cardio that one needs in a fun way! After my 10 week program I increased my push-ups and sit-ups, gained more definition in my muscles and increased my cardio.
I started instructing at FXB July 2013 and each and every day I enjoy seeing the transformation in people. It’s simple….it works! No reason to go to numerous gyms to get a full workout when FXB has it all. FXB is not only a place to work out and learn about nutrition, it’s like a 2nd family!
I’m married and have three children and one grandson that I love spending time with when I’m not in a race or working out.
My name is Leah and I'm addicted to exercise. It's a bummer that I'm also addicted to sugar (mainly ice cream & cookies). After many years of trying to disprove the idea that you can't out-exercise poor nutrition, I am now a believer and I have surrendered. Level-10 living feels so much better than a giant bowl of ice cream does in my tummy.
I was an athlete throughout high school and really started working out on my own when I started college. Before starting at Farrell's I ran 6 miles a day, six or seven days a week. I have also done many other workout programs from Beach Body and also classes at the Y. Fitness is something I've been passionate about since I was in high school. I was "fit fat" (fit but covered in fat). I began my Farrell's journey 3 years ago with the first session at White Bear in April 2013. When I got the flier I was so excited that Farrell's was opening up just a few minutes from my house. I took the challenge and I was the first female 10-week $1000 winner here at White Bear. I was hooked! I started instructing in October 2013. I love fitness and encouraging others to get to their next level of fitness.
I am married and have 5 beautiful kids with whom I enjoy spending time with.
I have been instructing at Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping since June 2015. I started at FXB in October of 2013 as a 10-weeker and joined as a Fit member immediately after that session. I loved the support and encouragement I received as a "newbie" and the new challenges every workout brought. I truly enjoy being able to bring my experience and enthusiasm to our FXB community now as an instructor.
I have a passion for health and fitness and enjoy sharing that with others. I emphasize proper technique and I am a proponent of safe training practices. My goal is to make health and fitness a part of my daily routine and to be able to inspire others to do the same.
In my spare time I also enjoy running and spending time with my husband and two kids.
Instructor, Coach
I started at FXB in the spring of 2014. I joined with a friend of mine after I got bored working out alone at one of those small box gyms, and I also wanted to get back into something like Taekwondo, which I did when I was younger. I’m REALLY happy here, because everyone here pushes each other and I’ve met lots of friends. It’s a giant support and social group, which is really great.
